Logistics

Working Visas

When coming to Australia to work, you are required by law to be sponsored. Acquiring the relevant working visas is the first step. An application form must be completed and lodged with the Department of Immigration and Citizenship. Consultation with the relevant Australian union is also required. Guidelines on the entry into Australia of foreign actors for the purpose of employment in film and television productions can also be found at the Department of The Arts.

Organizing visas, filming permits, sound recorder, various production crew (in FNQ and NSW) and experienced indigenous performers was all part of the brief for this client. Having used us on other jobs it was straightforward, they simply sent us the brief and let us do take care of all the preparation. Arriving late at night, everything was fully organised and production was well underway the next day. Many of the sequences were filmed with CGI in mind for the post. Over the course of 9 days, we were setting up shots in a variety of locations including Mornington Island and Cairns, including beaches, creeks and rain forests at night and during the day. The whole production was very smooth. New Zealand warrior sequence was also organized by us and filmed at an appropriate location.

Visual Obsession has filmed numerous aerial shots, including many aerial to ground and aerial to aerial situations. Watch the fixed wing aircraft take lift off from Cairns Airport, overlook Cairns City, Northern Beaches and the ocean passenger liner cruising along the sea. Visual Obsession captured some amazing aerial to aerial footage of fixed wing aircraft flying around the Torres Strait Islands and a heavy lifting cargo chopper getting ready for take off. Also some great footage around the Great Ocean road in Victoria and a prawn trawler off the coast of Brisbane conducting sea trails.

Take a look at the great Barron River falls, Kuranda Railway and an aerial view of Kuranda which is situated in the middle of one of Far North Queensland's many tropical rainforests. Visual Obsession also captured footage of Port Douglas and their outstanding Marina Mirage and resorts. The rich Daintree rainforest, Little Island of Low Isles and Double Island just outside of Palm Cove. Visual Obsession's film crew go to great lengths to get the best footage for each production.

Australia truly is one of the most diverse continents in the world, ranging from our barren red plains to our lush rivers and coastlines. Our Visual Obsession film crew love to travel to the most remote, beautiful places in the Australian outback. In the remote Gulf of Carpentaria and other regions, our camera crew has had the opportunity to capture some truly rare and wonderful aerial footage. Helicopter cattle mustering and zooming above the great Burdekin River which, through winding channels - feeds the cattle, livestock, farming and vegetable market garden irrigation in the Burdekin. Sweeping over Karumba, vast oceans and trawlers for the opening of the banana prawn season is but a snapshot of the amazing landscapes Australia has to offer.

Aceh & Nias Tsunami Commemoration - Discovery Channel Asia and Bang Productions Singapore

Not only will we organise your international shoot anywhere within Australia, we can come to you anywhere outside Australia. Visual Obsession Cameraman was contracted to film in Indonesia with well known Australian director, Christopher Zinn. This involved filming 12 stories within 14 days. Dodging military convoys, tense moments with Indonesian Customs, long night drives through Aceh rebel territory and United Nation flights to Nias Island were just a small part of the fun had while on this shoot for the Tsunami commemoration. The final production was aired on almost every International Cable Television Network.

This is a montage of broadcast quality video filmed in the City of Cairns and Far North Queensland region. Including footage of significant places, aboriginals exploring and following in the footsteps of their ancestors, crocodiles in their native habitats, native bush foods, honey bees, wild horses galloping through bushland, Jabiru and brolgas, geese, scarlet sunsets, Barramundi fishing, the gorgeous Ellis and Cowley beaches, the Cairns Lagoon by the Pier Marketplace, lavish ocean liners, sugarcane harvesting and the 1000 feet high Wallaman Falls (the largest single drop waterfall in Australia). Attractions in and around Cairns such as the annual Festival Cairns parade and carnivale, bungee jumping and nightclubs are extremely popular with tourists. This is a true appreciation of the environment and the place we call home.

Misima Island PNG

Commissioned by Placer Dome Asia Pacific due to our reputation for indigenous cultural sensitivity and international standard video productions, Visual Obsession travelled to PNG to film and photograph the closing ceremony and deconstruction of mining operations on Misima Island. The documentary was shot using a broadcast widescreen digital DVCPRO50 camera and respectfully details the unique cultural characteristics of PNG community as well as the environmental rehabilitation of previously mined sites.
