Heritage Trails Network Queensland

Visual Obsession produced an audio visual production that represents the Laura region and its people, communicating through the presentation a “Welcome to my Country” feel. This concept represents an unbiased perspective on the local community, while promoting the people of the region.

Quinkan Country is the traditional land of five Indigenous tribal groups. The Visual Obsession film crew made several trips into the region to meet with elders which involved camping in remote outback locations with Aboriginal elders. Some areas were only accessible by four wheel drive and sometimes only by foot carrying all the necessary camera equipment into sacred sites.

Being an Indigenous community, Aboriginal elders representing the traditional owners of each area are featured extensively, talking about bush tucker, bush medicine, rock art and dance, reflecting the diversity of the community. Visual Obsession allowed them to tell their story about their land with a “Welcome to my Country” feel.
